Meet the Stamp Artists

IDA ABSHIER

My hobbies are many but my passion is stamping. I discovered rubber stamps about ten years ago and had my own business, Expression in Ink, for several years.

When I realized that I had to focus on selling stamps, not playing with them, I took down my sign.

Many friendships were made thorugh my business and there are parts of it that I miss....but I am enjoying my retirement.

I am originally from New Orleans but have been in Texas for over forty years. People still tell me I have a distinct southern accent.

My family has grown from four sons to nine grandchildren.

WATER COLOR SAMPLE seaasonal, unmounted, rubberstamps

This the first sample Ida sent.

She describes the technique she uses as follows:

The technique I used for the card I sent is so very simple! Just color the stamp with Tombows or Marvy brush markers, do a little blending and shading right on the stamp, you can even leave a few spots without color, spritz it until you can see the water on the surface and stamp it on watercolor paper. I then take a small sable brush, dip it in water and pick up some of the color on the image and fill in the background.
